Capital B Media – A growing Yorkshire agency
Based at Millhouse Green on the South/West Yorkshire border with a satellite office in Huddersfield, the company provides a range of communications services including media relations, social media management, video production, copywriting, media training and crisis communications support.
Over the years Capital B Media has built up a portfolio of clients across the north of England and the UK, including national charity clients The Pulmonary Hypertension Association (PHA UK) and Anxiety UK, and media training clients including the Care Quality Commission, The Pensions Regulator and Michelin Tyres.
The team is made up of communications experts and former journalists who have worked for other agencies and held in-house PR, marketing and communications positions within businesses and charities across the UK.
Capital B Media received a gold award by the Chartered Institute of PR in 2019 for being the Outstanding Small PR Consultancy in Yorkshire and Lincolnshire. The company has also picked up three other gold awards in the past three years.
It’s been an exciting time for us, with client wins and new collaborations. It is a tough time in the industry, as in most industries, particularly with the changing media landscape. But we know that investing in the right people, training and equipment means we can keep ahead of the game and do the best for our clients.
Capital B Media has performed well in recent years, with a 30 per cent growth achieved in the 2018/19 financial year. This led to the recruitment of a new member of staff specialising in video production to meet the increased demand for video. A further 15 per cent growth is predicted for 2019/20.
The boost in revenue is down to several client wins including Barnsley-based property developer Priority Space and a three-year PR contract with a Yorkshire business support programme.
Earlier this year, Capital B Media also expanded its crisis management offer to work with international crisis experts Controlled Events Ltd. The partnership involves planning crisis management training and readiness activity for national, high-profile clients.
When I first set up the business it was just me, and now I look at the great team we’ve got and the fantastic work that we do, and it makes me really proud.
As part of Capital B Media’s sponsorship of the Kirklees Business Conference, Kate will be co-hosting a free seminar with Janet Bebb, director of Social Progress, where they will talk about how marketing and PR can be used to generate new business.
Kate is no stranger to giving PR and communications advice, having hosted hundreds of seminars over the course of her 14 years in the industry. This includes speaking at the South Yorkshire Expo, Wakefield Business Week, Made Sheffield and Leeds Business Week.
I’m really looking forward to speaking at the conference. I hope those who attend will pick up some key skills and have the confidence to implement the basics of PR to raise their profile, bring in more customers and ultimately boost the local economy.
